Planning for the trip...

Nine members of Plymouth Heights CRC, Grand Rapids, Michigan, will be headed to Soroti, Uganda on a short term mission trip this summer. We are going through an organization called International Teams, and will be working with the Sliedrecht family, missionaries that our church currently supports. The group is leaving on June 7 and returning on June 21.

Right now, we are trying to prepare physically, mentally, and spiritually for all that lies ahead. For many of us this is a trip that terrifies and excites us at the same time. We have no idea what to expect once we get to Uganda or even what we will be doing while we are there. Many of us hope to work in an orphanage about one hour away from where we will be staying, but everything is up in the air.

We will be updating this blog as we continue to plan for the trip, once we are gone (pending Internet access), and upon our return back to Michigan.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

• That the whole team has open hearts and minds as we continue to plan the trip
• For financial support as a trip across the world is not cheap
• Availability of the needed shots (some of us are having trouble finding them)
• A vision to see how our church can cultivate long term relationships with the churches in Uganda
• Ability to raise awareness of the social justice issues in Africa and awareness of our trip to Uganda
